Describe the various types of placentations found in flowering plants.

Explanation

The arrangement of ovules with in the ovary is known as placentation. It is of 5 types.
A) Marginal : ..The placenta forms a ridge along the ventral suture of the ovary and the ovules are borne on this ridge forming two rows... Ex : Pea.
B) Axial : The ovules are attached to central placenta in a multilocular ovary. Ex : Tomato, lemon.
C) Parietal : The ovules develop on the inner wall of the oary. Ovary in one chambered but it becomes two chambered due to the development of flase septum. Ex : Mustard.
E) Basal : The placenta develops at the base of the ovary and a single ovule is attached to it.
Ex : Sunflower.
