Unlike mammals the reptiles cannot tolerate environmental fluctuations in temperature. How do they adapt to survive in desert conditions ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Some organisms show behavioural-responses to cope with variations in their environment. Desert lizards. manage to keep their body temperature fairly constant bý behavioural means. They .bask. (staying in the warmth of sunlight) in the sun and absorb heat when their body temperature drops below the comfort zone, but move into shade when the temperature starts increasing. Some species, are capable of burrowing into the soil to escape from the excessive heat above the ground level.
