It states that ontogeny repeats phylogeny which means the development history of an organism repeats the evolutionary history of its ancestor Eġ : Tadpole larva of frog, it resembles fish both externally and internally. It possesses a tail, gills and two chambered heart like that of fish. Later it metamorphoses into adult frog.
