16 g of oxygen gas is enclosed in a `1dm^3` flask at `25^@C` Calculate the pressure exerted by the gas, if the molecular mass (molar mass) of any gas occupies 22.4 litres at S.T.P

oxygen `(O_2)` is a diatomic gas its molar mass is `16 xx 2 = 32g`
so, 32g of oxygen will occupy `22.4 dm^3` at S.T.P
16g of oxygen will occupy`(22.4)/32 xx 16 = 11.2 dm^3`
thus `P_1 = 1 atm V_1 = 11.2 dm^3 T_1 = 273` K
`P_2=? V_2 = 1 dm^3 T_2= 273+25= 298`
by gas equation
`(P_1 V_1)/T_1 = (P_2 V_2)/T_2`
`P_2 = (P_1V_1T_2)/(T_1 V_2)= (1xx11.2xx298)/(273xx1)= 12.2 atm`
the pressure exeted by the gas is 12.2atm
