The diagram alongside shows a circuit with the key k open. Calculate :

the resistance of the circuit when the key k is closed.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When k is closed, the resistance 2 `Omega ` and 3`Omega `are in series, therefore their total resistance is 5 `Omega `. Now since
` (1)/(R_p) = 1/5 +1/5 = 2/5 " " therefore R_p = 2.5 Omega `
So now the resistance of circuit is = 2.5 + 0.5 = 3`Omega `
