Cloud formation condition Consider a simplified model of cloub formation. Hot air in contact with the earth's surface contains water vapor. This air rises convectively till the water vapor content reaches its situation pressure. When this happens, the water vpor starts condensing and droplets are formed. We shall estimate the estimate the height a which this happens. We assume that the atmosphere consists of the diatomic gases oxygen and nitrogen in the mass proportion 21:79 respectively. We further assume that the atmosphere is an ideal gas, g the acceleration due to gravity is constant and air processes are adiabatic. Under these assumptions one can show that the pressure is given by p = p_(0) ((T_(0)-T_(z))/(T_(0)))^(alpha) Here p_(0) and T_(0) is the pressure and temperature respectively at seal level (z = 0),T is the lapse rate (magnitude of the change in temperature T with height z abive the earth's surface, i.e. T gt 0) .

Balsam plants wilt during midday even if the soil is well watered. Give scientific reason.

(i) Name the biogeochemical (nutrient) cycle shown above. (ii) Name an activity of the living organisms not depicted in the cycle by which this nutrient is returned to the atmosphere. (b) How would the flow of the nutrient in the cycle be affected due to large scale deforestation? Explain giving reasons. (c) Describe the effect of an increased level of this nutrient in the atmosphere on our environment.

A manometer reads the pressure of a gas in a enclosure as shown in figure(a) When some of the gas is removed by a pump, the manometer reads as in (b). The liquid used in the manometers is mercury and the atmospheric pressure is 76 cm of mercury. (i) Give the absolute and gauge pressure of the gas in the enclosure for cases (a) and (b) in units of cm of mercury . (ii) How would the level change in case (b) if 13.6 cm of water are poured into the right limb of the manometer?

(A) : We do not feel the pressure when sun shines on our hand even the energy being absorbed from the EM waves (Our hands get warm). (R) : EM waves transfer momentum to our hands but because speed of light is very large so the momentum transfered is very small.
