Which of the following statements are correct related to metallurgy? (A) In electrolytic refining of copper, pure Cu is used as anode. (D) Very pure Zr may be obtained by galvanisation (E) In copper smelting, hot air is used to convert to CuSO_4 The correct answer is

Medicines are either man made (i.e., synthetic) or obtained from living organisms like plants, bacteria, animals etc. and hence the latter are called 'natural products. Sometimes natural products are chemically altered by man to reduce toxicity or side effects. Write against each of the following whether they were initially obtained as a natural product or as a synthetic chemical. a) Penicillin_ b) Sulfonamide_ c) Vitamin C __. d) Growth Hormone ___

Amines are less reactive in substitution reactions. Their reactivity is much lesser than alcohols and alkylflourides towards substitution. Protonation of the amino group makes it a better leaving group, but not nearly as good a leaving group as a protonated alcohol. Protonated amino groups cannot be displaced by OH^(-) because it would react immediately with the acidic hydrogen which would convert it in to a poor nucleophile. The leaving group in quartenary ammonium ion has about the same leaving tendency as a protonated amino group but does not have acidic hydrogen. The reaction of a quartenary ammonium ion with hydroxide ion is known as Hoffmann elimination reaction. The leaving group is tertiary amine. Since a tertiary amine is only a moderately good leaving group, the reaction requires heat. The carbon to which the tertiary amine is attached is designated as alpha carbon. When the hydroxide ion starts to remove a beta H from a quartenary ammonium ion, the leaving group does not immediately start to leave because a tertiary amine is not a good leaving group. As a result, a partial negative charge builds up on the carbon from which the proton is removed. Which of the following statements is correct?

The organ 'A' of a person has been damaged completely due to a poisonous waste material 'B' has started accumulation in his blood, making it dirty. In order to save this person's life, the blood from an artery in the person's arm is made to Dow into long tubes made of substance 'E' which are kept in coiled form in a tank containing solution 'F'. This solution contains three materials 'G', 'H' and 'I' and similar proportions to those in normal blood. As the person's blood passes through-long tubes of substance 'E', most of the wastes present in it go into solution 'F'. The clean blood is then put back into a vein in the person for circulation. What is the process described above known as ?
