Some examples for polar compouds are given below:
(i) `H_2O` (ii)`HF` (iii)`NH_3`
What do you mean by a polar compound.

Text Solution

a) When a covalent compound is formed by joining the atoms with difference in the electronegativity values, the atom which has the higher electronegativity gets partial partial negative charge . Atom which has low eletronegativity gets partial positive charge. The compounds which have partial electric charge are called polar compounds.
b) (i).H_2^(delta+)-O^(delta-).(ii).H^(delta+)-F^(delta-). (iii).N^(delta+)-H_3^(delta-).
