Procedure of an experiment is given below. Take some calcium carbonate in a boiling tube. Add hydrochloric acid to it using athistie funnel. The gas coming out is passed through water containing blue litmus solution.

c) What changes takes place when this gas is passed through water containing blue litmus solution? Give reason.
