Analyse the situations given belwo and explain the gas law associated with it: When an inflated baloon is immersed in water, its size decreases.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

a) High pressure is experienced in the depth of water. The volume of gases inside the balloon decreases due to the high pressure. This is related to Boyle.s law.
b) The number of molecules increases when a balloon is inflated. Hence the volume of balloon increases. When the number of molecules increases at constant temperature and pressure, volume also increases. This is related to avagadro.s law.

Select from the box, the correct gas law related to the given situations. (Bovle's law, Charles law, Avagardro's law): An inflated balloon kept at sunlight bursts after sometime.

Select from the box, the correct gas law related to the given situations. (Bovle's law, Charles law, Avagardro's law): The size of an air bubble rising from the bottom of an aquarium increases.

Gas laws are relationship between the measurable properties of gases. A definite quantity of an ideal gas is confined in a container of constant volume. When the container is immersed in a bath of melting ice, the pressure of the gas is 800mm of Hg. Find the temperature when the gas pressure is 400mm of Hg.

Given below are certain changes taking place to the particles during change of state. From this, find out and tabulate the changes in the particles when water boils to form steam and also when steam condenses to form water. distance increases attractive force decreases energy increases rate of movement increases distance decreases energy decreases attractive force increases rate of movement decreases
