In some cases, it is found that a large number of colliding molecules have energy more than threshold value, yet the reaction is slow. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

For a reaction to take place, the collisions must be effective. Collisions will be ineffective if the orientations of the colliding molecules at the time of collision are improper. Thus the reaction may be slow due to improper orientation of the colliding molecules.

Rate of a reaction can be expressed by-Arrhenius equation , k=Ae ^ −Ea/RT. In this equation (Ea) represents (1)The total energy of the reacting molecules at a temperature. (2)The fraction of molecules with energy greater than the activation energy of the reaction. (3)The energy above which all the colliding molecules will react. (4)The energy below which colliding molecules will not react.

Which of the following statement true for molecularity of a reaction? It is sum of exponents of the molar concentration of the reactants in the rate equation, It may have a fractional value, It is the number of molecules of the reactants taking part in a single step chemical reaction, It is determined experimentally

Two finite sets have m and n elements, The total number of subsets of the first set is 56 more than the total number of subsets of the second set. Find the values of m and n.

In addition to the standard ring systems (such as cyclohexane ), cyclic compounds can also be bicyclic, tricyclic, etc., or they can be spirocyclic, bicyclic or bridge head carbons. The point of attachment of two rings are called bridge head atoms. Some bicyclic compounds like camphor are commonly found in plants. Others like norbomane can be synthesized in the laboratory. The formal names of bicyclic and related ring systems are based on: 1) Total number of atoms in the molecule. 2) The number of atoms in each bridge connecting the bridge head atoms. These numbers are written in square bracket in decreasing order. Spirocyclic compounds have two fused rings, but only one bridge head atom. Spirocyclic compounds are named like bicyclic compounds, but have the prefix spirocyclo. Select the correct statement about the following compounds:

Two finite sets have m and n elements respectively . The total number of subsets of first set is 56 more than the total number of subsets of the second set. The value of m and n respectively are :

Two finite sets have m and n elements. The number of elements in the power set of first set is 48 more than the total number of elements in the power set of the second set. Then the value of m and n are : a) 7,6 b) 6,3 c) 6,4 d) 7,4

Statement 1 : Xenon fluorides are well known and stable but the corresponding chlorides have not been reported. Statement 2: Xe-F bond is more strong than Xe-Cl bond and F_2 molecule has low bond dissociation energy than that of Cl_2 molecule.

Two finite sets A and B have m and n elements respectively. If the total number of substs of A is 112 more than the total number of subsets of B, then the value of m is a)7 b)9 c)10 d)12
