Whty is it necessary to remove CO when ammonia is obtained by Haber process ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In Haber.s process for the production of NH from N2 and H2 iron is used as a solid catalyst. It is necessary to remove CO because it reacts with iron to form [Fe(Co)3] which is a liquid at room temperature and will interfere in the production of NH at higher temperature due to reaction of CO and H2
