Why is the ester hydrolysis slow at the beginning and becomes faster after some time?

When an ester is treated with mineral acid gives an acid and alcohol. The organic acid under goes dissociation to give hydrogen ions. These hydrogen ions act as catalyst and hence the hydrolysis becomes faster.
