a. The path of the light is illuminated due to the scattering of light by the particles present in air. This phenomenon is known as Tyndall effect. b. The catalyst provides an alternate path of reaction with a lower activation energy. When the activation energy is lowered. more molecules can cross the energy barrier and hence the rate of reaction is increased.
