Physical adsorption is multimolecular wh...

Physical adsorption is multimolecular while chemisorption is unimolecular. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Ans: In chemisorption, there 15 ,chemical reacton between adsorbent and adsorbate. Hence when the surface of the adsorbent is covered with one layer. no further reaction takes place. In physical adsorption. only van der Waal.s force is existing between the adsorbent and adsorbate. Hence any number of layers can be formed one over the other on the surface of the adsorbènt.
