A colloidal sofution of 'AgI' is prepared by two different methods shown below:
i. What is the charge on 'AgI' colloidal particles in the tubes (A) and (B).
ii. What is the reason for the origin of charge.

i. In tube A, when .AgNO_3. is added to KI, Ag I is formed. When excess AgNO_3 is added Ag+ ion are adsorbed on AgI particles. Hence charge on the colloidat particles in tube .A. is tve. .In tube .B., AgI is formed. When excess .KI. is added. I.ions are adsorbed on AgI. Hence charge on the colloidal particles in tube .B. is -ve. ij. The origin of charge on colloidal particles is due to preferential adsorption of common tons of the electrolyte present in excess on the colloidal particles.
