Gangue : Generally ores are contaminated with earthy imporities and these impurities are called gangue or matrix. FIux: Certain substances are added to convert gangue into fusible mass. The foreign substance added is called flux. Slàg: The flux combines with the impurities present in the ore to form an easily fusible material cailed slag. Flux + Gangue .rarr. Slag.
