Why does nitrogen show catenation properties less than phosphourus?

Due to smaller size, the lone pair of electrons on the .N. - atoms repel the bond pair of .N-N. bond. In contrast, because of comparatively larger size of P, the lone pair of electrons on .P. atoms do not repel the bond pair of P-P bond tò the same extent. As a result, .N-N. single bond is weaker than .P. -P,.P. -P single bond. Consequently nitrogen shows little tendency for fatenation while .P. has a distinct tendency for catenation:
