N BartFett synthesised .O_2 PtF_6^*. by the reaction between .O., and .^prime PtF_5/ ^*. .O_3+P tF_6 rarr O_2^+[PtF_6]^-. Since oxygen and Xenon haive nearly same ionisation enthalpies and their sizes are comparable. It prompted him to prepare from Xe and PtF. the compound .Xe^+[PtF_6]^-.
