ZINC:Oh …..Manganese and iron....you are Iucky, your compounds are coloured. But-I cannot give colour to my compounds. which you have. a. Are the words of zinc true? b: Iron cannot put forward a solution for the problem being faced by.Zn. Why?

a. Yes. Zn cannot form coloured compounds. b. The electronic configuration of zinc (30) is .1 (Ar)]. .3 (~d)^(10) 4 (~s)^(2).. In compound òf zinc, the oxidation number of Z n is +2. So it contains filled d -orbitals. So no chance for d-d transition and hence has no colour.
