Manganese and technetium have very low melting points. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Manganese and technetium have exactly half filled d-orbitals. Hence the electronic configuration is stable. Electrons are held tightly by the nucleus so that the delocalisation is less and metallic bond is much weaker than the preceding element.
