What happens when chromates are keptin acidic solution and dichromates in the alkaline solution?

Chromates in the acidie solution are coniverted into dichromiates and thus the colour becomes orange. whereas diçromates in the alkáline solution are converted into-chromates and the colour becomes yellow.
