A solution of `[Ni(H_2O)_6]^(2+)` is green but a solution of `[Ni(CN)_4]^(2-)` is colourless. Explain.

Text Solution

It is-because of .[Ni(H_2 O)_6]^2 *. has unpaired electrons which absorb light from visible regiọn and radiate complementary colour ie, green whereàs [Ni(CN)] ] tron, therefore, does not absorb.light from.visible region therefore it is colourless.
