. C_5 H_41. cannot be an alkène since it does not give addition reaction with . Cl., in dark. Therefore it must be a,cyclic hyđocarbon. Moreover, it gives a single monochloro compound . C_5 H_9 Cl. with . Cl., in b sunlight. therefore, if must bé symmetrical, ie. cyclopentane.
