figure In presence of dil.NaOH, the weakly acidic '^- N^* H_3' transfers its 'H^+' to 'OH^-' to form soluble 'p' 'NH_2 C dot H, SO^-, Na^+' figure But 'SO^-', group is a very weak base and hence does not accept a 'H^+' from dil. 'HCl' to form 'p-NH_3 C_6 H_4 SO_3 H' and hence it does not dissolve in dil.HCl.
