We have .a+i b=((x+i)^(2))/(2 x^(2)+1)=(x^(2)+2 x i+i^(2))/(2 x^(2)+1)=(x^(2)+2 x i-1)/(2 x^(2)+1)=(x^(2)-1)/(2 x^(2)+1)+i (2 x)/(2 x^(2)+1).

.a^(2)+b^(2)=((x^(2)-1)/(2 x^(2)+1))^(2)+((2 x)/(2 x^(2)+1))^(2)=(x^(4)-2 x^(2)+1+4 x^(2))/((2 x^(2)+1)^(2))=(x^(4)+2 x^(2)+1)/((2 x^(2)+1)^(2))=((x^(2)+1)^(2))/((2 x^(2)+1)^(2)).
