When `q_(1)` joules of radiation is incident on a body if reflects and transmits total of `q_(2)` joules. Find the emissivity of the body.

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
`(q_(1)-q_(2))/(q_(1))`

Absorptive power `=(q_(1)-q_(2))/(q_(1)) = (Q_(a))/(Q_(i))`
Emissivity `= (q_(1)-q_(2))/(q_(1))`
Absorptive power = Emissivity

What is the ralation connecting absorpative, reflecting and transmitting power of a body ?

If 'p' calorie of heat energy is incident on a body and absorbs 'q' calories of heat absorbed then its coefficient of absorption is .

When p calories of heat is given to a body, it absorbs q calories, then the absorbtion power of body will be :-

The temperature at which a black body of unit area loses its energy at the rate of 1 joule/second is

Assertion : A body that is a good radiator is also a good absorber of radiation at a given wavelength. Reason : According to Kirchhoff's law the absorptivity of a body is equal to its emissivity at a given wavelength

The peak emission from a black body at a certain temprature occurs at a wavelength of 9000 Å . On increase its temperature , the total radiation emmited is increased its 81 times. At the intial temperature when the peak radiation from the black body is incident on a metal surface , it does not cause any photoemission from the surface . After the increase of temperature, the peak from the black body caused photoemission. To bring these photoelectrons to rest , a potential equivalent to the excitation energy between n = 2 and n = 3 bohr levels of hydrogen atoms is required. Find the work function of the metal.

The rate of dissipation of heat by a black body at temperature T is Q . What will be the the rate of dissipation of heat by another body at temperature 2T and emissivity 0.25 ?

The graph, shown in the adjacent diagram, represents the variation of temperature (T) of two bodies, x and y having same surface area, with time (t) due to the emission of radiation. Find the correct relation between the emissivity and absorptivity power of the two bodies

1 joule of work is said to be done when a force of 1 N acting on an object moves it by 1 metre in the direction of force.
