A block is performin SHM of amplitude 'A...

A block is performin `SHM` of amplitude `'A'` in vertical direction. When block i8s at `'y'` (measured from mean position), it detaches froms spring, so that spring contracts and does not effect the motion of the block. Find `'y*'` such that block attains maximum height from the mean position. (given `Aomega^(2) gt g`)

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
`y^(**) = (g)/(omega^(2))`

`v^(2) = omega^(2)(A^(2) - y^(2)) ……..(1)`
`h = (v^(2))/(2g) + y , h = (omega^(2)(A^(2) - v^(2)))/(2g) + y`
`(dh)/(dy) = 0` (for maximum height)
`(dh)/(dy) = -(omega^(2))/(2g)(2y) + 1 = 0 rArr y^(**) = (g)/(omega^(2))`
