There is a point object and a plane mirror. If the mirror is moved by 10cm away from the object, find the distance which the image will move.

We know tha t`x_(im) = x_(om)` or `x_(i) - x_(m) = x_(m) - x_(0)`
or `Delta x_(i) - Delta x_(m) = Delta x_(m) - Delta x_(0)`
In this question `Dleta x_(0) = 0, Delta x_(m) = 10cm`
Therefore `Delta x_(i) = 2Delta x_(m) - Delta x_(0) = 20cm`
Alter:-
`2(x + 10) = 2x + d`
`:. d = 20cm`
