A person in a lift is holding a water jar, which has a small hole at the lower end its side. When the lift is at rest, the water jet coming out of the hole hits the floor of the lift at a distance d of 1.2 m from the person. In the following, state of the lift’s motion is given in Column I and the distance where the water jet hits the floor of the lift is given in Column II. When lift is moving up with acceleration a, speed of water from jar is given by ` v = sqrt(2g_("effective")h ) `
Where ` g_("effective") = (g + a ) `

Time taken by water to reach the base of the lift is given by
` H = (1)/(2) (g +a )t ^ 2 rArr t = sqrt ((2H )/((g + a)) ) " " ...(ii) `
Horizontal distance covered by water on the floor of the lift.
` d = vt = sqrt (2 (g + a ) h) xx sqrt((2H)/( (g + a)) ) = sqrt (4 H h ) `
