This quesiton contains Statement-1 and Statement-2. Of the four choices given after the statement, choose the one that best describes the two statements.
Statement-1 : The temperature dependence of resistance is usually given as `R = R_(0) (1 + alpha Delta t)`. The resistance of a wire changes from `100 Omega " to " 150 Omega` when its temperture is increased from `27^(@) C` to `227^(@)C`. This implies that `alpha = 2.5 xx 10^(-3)//.^(@)C`.
Statement -2 : `R = R_(1) (1 + alpha Delta T)` is valid only when the change in the temperature `Delta T` is small and `delta R = (R - R_(0)) lt lt R_(0)`

A

Statement-I is True, Statement-II is True and Statement-II is a correct explanation for Statement-I

B

Statement-I is True, Statement-II is True and Statement-II is NOT a correct explanation for Statement-I

C

Statement-I is True, Statement-II is False

D

Statement-I is False, Statement-II is True

From the statements given `a=2.5 times 10^-3//^@C` . The resistance of a wire changes from `100 Omega` to `150 Omega` when the temperature is increased from `27^@C` to `227^@C`.
It is true that is small. But (150 – 100)`Omega or 50Omega` is not very much less than `100Omega` i.e. `R-R_0 lt lt R_0` in not true.

Statement-1: The temperature dependence of resistance is usually given as R=R_0(1+alphaDeltaT) . The resistance of a wire changes from 100Omega to 150Omega when its temperature is increased from 27^@C to 227^@C . This implies that alpha=2.5xx10^-3//^@C . Statement 2: R=R_0(1+alphaDeltaT) is valid only when the change in the temperature DeltaT is small and DeltaR=(R-R_0) lt ltR_0 .
