Lead storage battery is a secondary cell. Cell reactions during operation
At anode : `Pb_(s) + SO_(4)^(2-)(aq)rightarrow 4_(s)+ 2e^(-)`
At cathod : `PbO_(2)(s) + SO_(4)^(2)_(aq)+ 4H_(aq)^(+) 2e^(-) rightarrow PbSO_4(s) + 2H_(2)O`
Overall reaction: `Pb_(s) + pbo_(2(s)) + 2H_(2) SO_(4)^(2-) to 2PbSO_(4(s)) + 2H_(2)O`
