Describe the structure of maize grain.

The embryo is small and occurs in a groove at one end of the endosperm. It consists of one shield-shaped cotyledon known as scutellum, a short axis with plumule and radicle. The plumule is covered by a sheath called coleoptile. Similarly, the radicle is protected by coleorhizae.
