In the below circuit, the battery `E_(1)` has an emf of 12 V and zero internal resistance. While the battery `E_(2)` has an emf of 2 V.

If the galvanometer G reads zero, then the value of the resistance X in ohm is

A

10

B

100

C

500

D

200

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

For zero deflection in galvanometer the potential different across X should be E = 2V
In this condition `(12X)/(500+X)`=2   `therefore`  X=`100Omega`
