An electric bulb rated `220 V and 60 W` is connected in series with another electric bulb rated `220 V and 40 W`. The combination is connected across a source of `emf 220 V`. Which bulb will glow more?

A

60 W bulb

B

40 W bulb

C

Both will glow equally bright

D

None of these

The correct Answer is:
B

`B_(1)` : 220 V and 60 W `B_(2)` : 220 V and 40 W
As R=`(V^(2))/(P)`     `therefore` `R_(2)>R_(1)`
For series current is same, `therefore` P=`I^(2)` R `P_(2)>P_(1)`
The bulb rated 220 V and 40 W will glow more.
