Which of the elements Na, Mg, Si and P have the greatest difference between first and second ionization enthalpies? Briefly explain your answer.

The element Na is expected to have the greatest difference between `IE_1 and IE_2` values. After losing one electron, `Na^+` ion acquires a noble gas configuration and the removal of the second electron is difficult as compared to other elements.
