Radha made a picture of an aeroplane with coloured paper as shown in figure. Find the total area of the paper used.

For area `A_(1)` of I (Triangle)
`s=(5+5+1)/(2)=5.5 cm`
`A_(1)=sqrt(5.5(5.5-5)(5.5-5)(5.5-1))`
`=sqrt(5.5xx0.5xx0.5xx4.5)=2.5 cm^(2)`
For area `A_(2)` of II (Rectangle) `A_(2)=6.5xx1=6.5cm^(2)`
For area `A_(3)`,
`h^(2)=1^(2)-(0.5)^(2)=1-0.25=0.75`
`:. " " h=sqrt(0.75)=0.866`cm
Now, area `A_(3)` of III (Trapczium)
`a_(3)=(1)/(2)(1+2)xx0.866=1.3 cm^(2)`
For area `A_(4)` and `A_(5)` of IV and V (Triangle)
`A_(5)=A_(4)=4.5 cm^(2)`
Total area `=A_(1)+A_(2)+A_(3)+A_(4)+A_(5)`
`=2.5+6.5+1.3+4.5+4.5`
`=19.3 cm^(2)`
