A bag contains 5 black and 6 red balls. Determine the number of ways in which 2 black and 3 red balls can be selected.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

No. of ways of selecting 2 black balls from 5 black balls `= .^(5)C_(2) = (5 xx 4)/(2 xx1) = 10`
No. of ways of selecting 3 red balls from 6 red balls
`= .^(6)C_(3) = (6 xx 5 xx 4)/(3 xx 2xx1) = 20`
Therefore, total ways `= 10 xx 20 = 200`.
