Find the equation of a line which cuts a...

Find the equation of a line which cuts an intercept of `5` units from negative direction of `Y`-axis and makes an angle of `135^(0)` from the positive direction of `X`-axis.

Text Solution

Here `m=tan 135^(@)=tan(90^(@)+45^(@))`
`=-cot 45^(@)=-1`
and `c=-5`
Therefore, the equation of a line
`y=mx+c`
`implies y=-x-9`
`implies x+y+5=0`.
