Find four numbers forming a geometric pr...

Find four numbers forming a geometric progression in which the third term is greater than the first terms by 9, and second term is greater than the 4th by 18.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
N/a

Let first four terms of G.P are `a, ar, ar^(2),ar^(3)`
`ar^(2)-a=9 implies a(r^(2)-1)=9`…(1)
and `ar-ar^(3)=18 implies -ar(r^(2)-1)=18`
`implies -r*9=18 `[From equation (1)]
Put the value of r in equation
`a(4-1)=9implies a=3`
`:.` Four terms of the progression `=3,-6,12,-24`
