A box of oranges is inspected by examining three randomly selected oranges drawn without replacement. If all the three oranges are good, die box is approved for sale, otherwise, it is rejected. Find the probability that a box containing 15 oranges out of which 12 are good and 3 are bad ones will be approved for sale.

The correct Answer is:

Let A,B and C be the events of drawing first, second and third good orange.
Therefore probability of drawing first good orange,
`P(A)=12/15`
Probability of drawing second good orange, ltbgt `P(B)=11/14`
Probability of drawing third good orange,
`P(C)=10/13`
If all three oranges are good then box is approved for sale. Therefore, probability of drawing all three oranges good
`=12/15xx11/14xx10/13=44/91`
Therefore, probability of approving the box for sale
`=44/91`
