The probability of selecting a rotten apple randomly from a heap of 900 apples is 0·18. What is the number of rotten apples in the heap ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Total number of apples in a heap = 900
Let the number of rotten apples in heap = x
`"Now, probability (rotten apple) "=("Number of rotten apples")/("Total number of apples in a heap")`
`0.18=(x)/(900)`
`therefore" "x=900xx0.18=162`
`therefore "Number of rotten apples in a heap of apples "= 162`
