The floor of a rectangular hall has a perimeter 250 m. If the cost of painting the four walls at the rate of `R s\ 10\ p e r\ m^2`is Rs 15000, find the height of the hall.[Hint : Area of the four walls = Lateral surface area.]

Text Solution

Let the rectangular hall of length = l, breadth = b, height = h
Now, area of four walls `= ("cost of painting the four walls")/("cost of painting per" m^(2))`
`=(Rs. 15000)/(Rs. 10)=1500 m^(2)`
We have, perimeter of the hall = 2(l+b) = 250 m
`because` Area of four walls `= 1500 m^(2)` (given)
`therefore 2(l+b)xxh=1500`
`rArr 250xxh=1500`
`rArr h=(1500)/(250)`
`rArr h = 6 m`
Hence, the height of the hall is 6 m.
