A thin circular loop of radius R rotates about its vertical diameter with an angular frequency ` omega`. Show that a small bead on the wire loop rem ains at its lowermost point for `omega oversetlarrsqrt(g/R)` What is the angle made by the radius vector joining the centre to the bead with the vertical downward direction for `omega = sqrt (2g/R)`? neglect friction.

A magnet is suspended vertically from a fixed point by means of a spring, as shown in the figure. One end of the magnet hangs inside a coil of wire. The coil is connected in series with a resistance R. The magnet is displaced vertically a small distance D and the released. shown in the figure variation with time t of the vertical displacement d of the magnet from its equilibrium position. State and explain, by reference to electromagnetic induction, the nature of the oscillations of the magnet. Calculate the angular frequency omega_0 of the oscillations.

A compass needle free to turn in a horizontal plane is placed at the centre of a circular coil of 30 turns and radius 12 cm. The coil is in a vertical plane making an angle of 45^@ with the magnetic meridian when the current in the coil is 0.35amp., the needle points west to east. The current in the coil is reversed and the coil is rotated about its vertical axis by an angle of 90^@ in the anticlockwise sense looking from above. Predict the direction of the needle. Take the magnetic declination at the places to be zero.
