Non-specific lines of defence is the first line of defence mechanism and is also called as innate immunity, which is inherited by birth. It does not depend on prior contact with the microorganism. Non-specific lines of defence mechanism executed by four barriers namely,
1. Physical barriers
2. Physiological barriers
3. Cellular barriers
4. Cytokine barriers.
