Why do we prefer a convex mirror as a rear-view mirror in vehicles?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Convex mirrors are used as rear-view mirrors in vehicles to see the traffic at the rear side. Convex mirrors are preferred because
(i) they always give an erect, though diminished image.
(ii) they have a wider field of view as they are curved outwards.
Thus, convex mirrors enable the driver to view much larger area than a plane mirror
