Bile juice contains no digestive enzymes...

Bile juice contains no digestive enzymes, yet it is important for digestion. Why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Bile is a digestive juice secreted by the liver. It does not contain any digestive enzyme. It helps in the digestion of fats. Bile is alkaline hence converts the acidic food to alkaline. This enables the action of pancreatic juice on the alkaline food. Bile salts break the fats present in the food into small globules making it easy for the enzymes to act upon it for digestion. Bile emulsifies the fat molecules present in the food.
