What are the different methods of contraception?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

i] Natural Method - abstinence from sex from the 10th day to 17th day after menstruation, so that the sperm doesn.t encounter the egg for fertilization. Avoiding ejaculation of semen into vagina during these days also avoids fertilization.
ii] Barrier method - Barriers are synthetic materials that prevent the fertilization as the sperm and egg do not meet. There are condoms available for both males and females.
iii] Oral Contraceptives - Hormones or hormonal substitutes in the form of oral tablets that are taken so that the release of egg is prevented. This enables contraception.
iv] Implants - Implants such as Copper - T into the female reproductive system prevents the entry of sperms into the fallopian tubes where fertilization takes place.
v] Surgical methods - vasectomy in males and tubectomy in females prevent gametes from fertilization.
