Explain the structure of a typical flower.

Flowers are the plant.s reproductive structures.
i] A typical flower has four .main parts or whorls. The outermost whorl of the flower has green, leafy structures known as sepals. The sepals, collectively called the calyx, help to protect the unopened bud.
ii] The second whorl is comprised of petals - usually, brightly colored to attract insects- collectively called as corolla.
iii] The third whorl contains the male reproductive structures and is known as the stamen. The stamens is made up of anther and filament. The anther contains male gametes called pollen grain.
iv] The innermost group of structures in the flower is the carpel. It has a stigma, style, and ovary. Ovary consists of female gamete called egg/ovule.
