i] By estimating the age of the layer of earth.s crust where the fossil is found. Fossils near the surface are recent and those in the deeper layers are more ancient.
ii] Experience gained by an individual during its lifetime is part of acquired characters. Acquired traits are due to changes in the lifestyle, injury, loss of body parts, disuse of some body parts. These are the traits occur in the somatic cells. Changes in the somatic cells are not passed on to the offspring belonging to the next generation. These cannot be passed into the DNA of the germ cells hence acquired characters are not inherited.
For example, if we cut the tail of mice for generations still tailless mice is not born. As cutting of tail is an example of an acquired character which is not inherited.
iii] Male will have 2 sex hromosomes le XY and female will have XX as their sex chromosomes. Thus male can donate either X or Y and female will donate only X at the time of gamete formation.
If, X chromosome is given by male and X from female - it will form female and if male donates Y chromosome and female gives X then it will be male (as XY is male and XX is female).
Thus, we can say that sex determining chromosome is given by male hence they are responsible for sex of the children.
